Strange But True ! A Place Where Women are prohibited to go too

Mount Omine is a sacred mountain in Nara, Japan. This mountain is Mount Sanjo its official name, but being in the mountains so called Mount Omine Omine.

On top of this mountain there is a temple Ominesanji, Shugendo center of Buddhism in Japan. All parts of this mountain is a sacred place for pilgrimage and the shrine of the same exercise.

In 2004, UNESCO makes this mountain as a World Heritage Site.

But surprisingly, women are not allowed in at all. Not only women, people whose families had died were forbidden to enter the mountain area.

For 1,300 years, only men were allowed to enter and see the famous Buddhist temple in the height of 5,640 feet. The reason is the same as other tourist attractions that forbids women to enter, which is considered their presence can interfere with determination pilgrims who visit this mountain.
